Aneros Helix Syn V Review

One of my all-time favorite prostate toys, and my go to for a long time has been the Aneros Helix Syn. My experience with vibrating stimulators had been pretty bad as most of them feel like you shoved an industrial concrete vibrator up your ass and your insides are getting scrambled, so this kept me from trying the Helix Syn V. After a discussion with an Aneros rep, I decided to give the V a shot since the power can be turned way down.

Design

The design is almost identical to the non-powered Helix Syn with the addition of the small protrusion at the bottom which contains the power/mode button. The unit is covered with a smooth, body-safe silicon which holds lube well, provides for easy insertion, makes it comfortable to wear for extended periods, and is easy to clean.

The design features a larger head section, tapered down to a more slender mid-section, with a secondary bulge for anus stimulation. The bottom section tapers down again to help “lock it in place”. The two arms that come out provide two additional pressure points for even more stimulation.

A – Head Width: 0.92 in
B – Head Depth: 1.0 in
C – Mid Ridge Width: 0.85 in
D – Mid Ridge Depth: 0.9 in
E – Stem to Perineum: 1.5 in
F – Insertable Length: 3.6 in

Usage

The Helix Syn V is definitely one product where is pays to RTFM (Read The Fucking Manual). There is only one button on the device which controls the power, the vibration mode, and the power level. It isn’t intuitive, but once you know how it works, it is very easy to control.

Power On/Off: Double-clicking the button will toggle the power on or off

Pattern Selection: A single click of the button will toggle through 8 different vibration patterns, with pattern 8 being a sequence of 5,3,5, and 7 cycled through.

Intensity: Holding the button for two seconds will rotate through three different speed settings, 15% (default), 30%, and 100%.

Charging the unit is dead simple, just plug the USB-A connector into a charging block (not included) and place the unit with the two metal buttons side onto the charger. The unit will blink while charging and turn solid when fully charged.

Lube

I have found that different lubes will feel very different with some working much better than others. Your typical water-based lube doesn’t feel like it allows the Helix to move as freely as a hybrid lube. However, one water-based lube did stand out from the rest, which is the LubeLife Toy Lube. The Toy lube worked very well. Right up there, is coconut oil. Coconut oil seems to last longer but is harder to clean up.

Getting Started

If you are new to prostate toys, I recommend starting with my guide to using prostate toys, this will give you a lot of information of prep, and tips for getting the most out of the Helix.

Results

How I typically do a session is to insert the Helix about 30-60 minutes before my actual session is going to start. This allows the Helix to start to work its magic on my prostate and anus and then go back to work at my desk. At some point I will feel my prostate starting to swell and even start getting some involuntary contractions. When things are really starting to happen, it’s off to the bedroom to go lay down.

With the Helix Syn V, I don’t power it on yet, I just let it do its thing and start building more and more tension. Once I start getting some P-waves, then I will turn it on and select a mode that feels good. They are all really good, but sometimes they will start to feel a bit repetitive and I will change the mode to something else. I feel some modes are better on the lower power setting, and some work better for me on the second setting. The full power setting is just way to much for most of the settings. Again, this is a personal preference.

I will say, I have had my most powerful p-gasms with the Helix Syn V over anything else, it just really does the trick. For someone new to prostate play, I suggest not even turning it on at all for a number of sessions until you are getting strong p-waves or even p-gasms with the unit by itself. The reason for this is that the feelings will generally start pretty mildly and the vibration can overwhelm your senses and not get you anywhere. Once you are getting good results without power, then I suggest getting pretty far into your session, with involuntaries, and/or p-waves and then using the vibration to take you to the next level.

Summary

Honestly, I wish I had read this article before I ever started with prostate play and just bought the Helix Syn V and worked up to it as I recommend above. I would have saved a bunch of time and money from trying cheaper and less effective products. While the Helix Syn V seems a little pricey at almost $100, its far better than buying multiple products at $30-$50 and not being happy with them.

Is the Helix Syn V going to be the ultimate product for everyone? Of course not, people are just designed differently, but for many guys, it is their favorite device. I highly suggest going to their subreddit at r/Aneros and seeing what people think and feel free to ask questions. That’s it from me, I hope this has helped you to understand what the Helix Syn V is, how to get the most from it, and helped you decide if it is something you should purchase.
